A Practical Approach

This service is suitable from 38 weeks gestation to teach and empower mothers by learning how to hand express before the birth of their baby. Learning to hand express can:

• Help you get familiar with your breasts and give you confidence.

• Be beneficial if you baby has difficulty feeding or is being cared for in the Neonatal intensive care or special care baby unit. 

• Help if you baby has Jaundice or Low blood sugars after delivery.

• Help you avoid problems with engorgement and mastitis.
