DO YOU OFFER GROUPÂ SESSIONS?
Yes I do. Group sessions are offered if there is a demand or if a group of expectant mothers would like to have a session together. Please contact directly for service fees.
WHY DO YOU VISIT AT HOME?
I believe that Private sessions in the comfort of your home are very beneficial as it gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and us the chance deliver individualised care.
CAN EVERY EXPECTANT MOTHER LEARN TO HAND EXPRESS
Learning to hand express is an very beneficial tool for any breastfeeding mother and I teach this from 38 weeks. In some cases I may teach you from 37 weeks if you have a scheduled C-section or planned induction due to Gestational Diabetes or Intrauterine growth restricted pregnancy. I strongly advice that with any pregnancy considered high risk you have a discussion with your midwife/obstetrician regarding your intentions to hand express prior to our consultation. Ideally it would be good if you had this documented in your notes but if not possible I will ask you to sign a waiver.

Unfortunately I cannot offer this service to any expectant mothers with Placenta Previa, Placenta Accreta or Vasa Pevia as the risks far out weigh the benefits.
CAN HAND EXPRESSINGÂ INDUCE LABOUR?
Very occasionally expressing can stimulate mild contractions. If these occur each time you express then you need to stop expressing and contact your midwife.
DO YOU ASSESS AND CUT TONGUE TIE?
Unfortunately I do not perform the procedure known as Frenulotomy in private practice. If after undertaking a full oral assessment I feel your baby is tongue-tied during then I can refer you onto an NHS Tongue Tie Clinic for further assessment and possible treatment.
DO YOU CONSULT WITH MY MIDWIFE?
If necessary I will discuss your case with your midwife if it will benefit the way in which they are caring for you. IBCLC's can also work as your advocate, working with other healthcare professionals to help you try and achieve your breastfeeding goals.
